Veterans Day Run Check Presentation

The Morgan Hill Veteran’s Run is dedicated to raising money to help selected Veterans Organizations throughout the County to further their mission of helping Veterans who are in need.

I’m a Vietnam veteran and upon return from Vietnam found it very difficult to assimilate.  One of the things that saved me in addition to my family and the Vietnam Veterans Center, was my running.

This was my 4th year organizing and directing the run and this year provided an odd challenge.  The run was to be held on Veterans Day, November 11, 15 minutes after the Veteran’s Memorial Service.  However, due to the smoke from the Camp Fire, we were forced to cancel as well as other local runs from Big Sur to Napa.

Prior to the run, 119 runners had signed up and when given the chance for a refund, not one person asked for their money back.   We are extremely grateful for this and in spite of some costs that can’t be recovered we are able to present checks to the following organizations.

Because of your generous sponsorship, the overall amount raised was $14, 819. 00.

Below are the groups we sponsored and their share of the profits.

22 Too Many — $1500.00

22 Too Many is a group of runners dedicating their marathons to military members lost to suicide at the alarming and tragic rate of 22 per day. This groups mission is to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress and share that helpful resources available as well as serve as a living memorial.  Runners participate with 22 Too Many heroes by carrying veteran’s photos and sharing their stories and providing comfort, encouragement, and support to the grieving loved ones left behind.

Taji 100 — $1210.00

Taji 100 hosts an annual run/walk charity challenge in the month of February (100 miles in 28 days) to promote health and wellness while raising funds and awareness for our selected veterans charity partner, Team Red White, and Blue to support America’s heroes, today’s soldiers and veterans.

Operation Freedom Paws— $3660.00
